Pompano Beach woman killed after coming to a stop on I-95 ramp

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Pompano Beach woman who was stuck on an Interstate 95 entry ramp after running out of gas died after being struck by another vehicle on Friday morning.

The collision occurred shortly before 6:40 a.m. on the Delray Beach northbound entry ramp from Atlantic Avenue.

The accident report says that when the woman’s SUV stopped in the middle of the road, she turned on her hazard lights, got out of the car, and walked toward the shoulder.

The lady was strolling behind her car when a 21-year-old guy driving a Nissan sedan “failed to stop in time” and plowed into them from behind, officials said, forcing the SUV driver onto the traffic and killing her.

At the scene, officials declared the lady deceased. She has not been officially named by authorities.
