PBSO searching for suspect in fatal hit-and-run accident

LAKE WORTH, Fla.  — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the public to find a suspect they say hit a pedestrian with their car and then left it in an industrial area near Lake Worth.

The collision took place at 8:51 p.m. on September 17 near the junction of 10th Avenue North and Boutwell Road.

A female pedestrian was reportedly using the pedestrian crossing on 10th Avenue North when she was hit by a red 1997 Ford F-150 truck with the Florida license plate number LYWA01. The sheriff’s office said that the woman was trying to cross 10th Avenue North.

Officials said the unidentified driver continued eastbound on 10th Avenue North and left the area. Deputies on road patrol were able to find the car quickly in an industrial area nearby.

According to PBSO, the victim was sent to St. Mary’s Medical Center in a severe condition after being injured, but she did not survive her injuries and passed away on October 9.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Homicide Investigations Unit requests that anybody who may have information on this case get in touch with them as soon as possible.
