Biden’s shocking abortion declaration: Abortions contribute to the preservation of “the soul of America”

President Joe Biden spoke fervently about his re-election campaign on Thursday, advocating for the right to abortion and asserting that it contributes to the preservation of “the soul of America.”

As reported by a news outlet, Biden’s second presidential campaign strongly emphasizes the theme of safeguarding America’s “soul.” However, this rhetoric has been challenged by pro-life advocates, who argue that the incumbent’s policies reflect a different reality.

Brian Burch, President of CatholicVote, took issue with the administration’s stance on abortion, claiming that “The Biden administration and the progressive left have a perverted, skewed understanding of the soul of America. They are ripping the country apart with this assault on our children that includes the so-called right to destroy an innocent life and to destroy a child’s innocence with the radical LGBTQ ideology.”

During Thursday’s press conference, Biden linked the debate over abortion rights to his fight for “the soul of America.” Responding to recent state abortion bans, the President assured his constituents of his steadfast resistance against “extremists” who aim to regulate “what health care decisions women can make.”

Pro-life advocates argue that such state laws do not seek to inhibit healthcare; instead, they aim to prohibit the elective termination of pregnancies. Notably, abortion restrictions typically stipulate exceptions for situations where the mother’s life is in jeopardy, such as complications from miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies.

Burch urged the President to focus his efforts on reducing the rate of abortions if his intention is genuinely to revive the American spirit. He noted that the right to life, “including the unborn,” is the cornerstone of a thriving society.

Contrarily, the Biden administration has been consistently pushing for greater accessibility to abortion services domestically and internationally. Recently, the administration rescinded safety regulations on abortion drugs, allowing them to be distributed by mail, which critics say may increase the risk of complications and misuse.

Furthermore, Biden’s administration has enforced a policy that mandates American taxpayers to fund travel expenses related to abortion services for military personnel and their families. Critics argue that these policies disproportionately affect lower-income women by curtailing healthcare funding to states implementing pro-life policies.

Biden’s ultimate goal is to repeal the Hyde Amendment, which would require taxpayers to fund abortion services directly via Medicaid and similar programs. The President is urging Congress to pass a bill colloquially termed the ‘Abortion Without Limits Up to Birth Act.’ This bill, if passed, would essentially eliminate many restrictions on abortion, leading to potential implications on laws regarding parental consent, informed consent, and conscience protections for pro-life medical professionals.

Biden’s stance on abortion rights contrasts sharply with public sentiment. Regular polling data indicates that the majority of Americans support limitations on abortions, including parental consent for minors and prohibitions on late-term abortions and public funding of abortion services.

Under the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling, states were compelled to permit abortions up to viability for nearly half a century, leading to the termination of over 64 million pregnancies. Currently, with the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, 15 states have enacted laws banning or severely restricting abortions, with others engaging in legal battles to achieve the same. Estimates from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America suggest that around 60,000 pregnancies have been saved from termination due to these efforts.

However, critics argue that Biden’s staunch pro-choice policies have thwarted efforts to save more unborn lives.
