Broward County Sheriff’s Office warns against unauthorized use of cyproheptadine

Broward County, Florida – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has issued a formal warning regarding the unauthorized use of “cyproheptadine”, a prescription-only antihistamine.

Spokesman Carey Codd highlighted that individuals are resorting to its use, not for its prescribed purpose, but rather as an appetite enhancer to alter their physique.

Alarming reports indicate that cyproheptadine is available without a prescription on online platforms and in certain retail outlets.

Furthermore, homicide detectives are delving into a tragic incident from August 2022 where a young infant from Oakland Park succumbed to a cyproheptadine overdose.

Excessive intake can lead to adverse effects, including disorientation, hallucinations, and in extreme cases, fatality.
