Man who rubbed easily combustible substance on his disabled wife to ease her pain lit a lighter near her, igniting the woman’s body and causing serious buгns to her legs, left her suffering for two days before calling her daughter

A 64-year-old man was taken into custody in the last week of October for allegedly setting his “disabled” wife on fire. This act of domestic violence has left the woman suffering from severe injuries and without immediate proper treatment, as the man waited two days before reporting the incident to the woman’s daughter.

According to a press release from the police department, officers were called to the hospital in the evening hours of October 24 in reference to a case about a woman admitted to the hospital with serious buгns. Upon arriving at the hospital, officers learned of a patient, later identified as 67-year-old Amanda, who was being treated for serious buгns covering about 25% of her lower extremities. Amanda, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, was unresponsive and in critical condition. Emergency medical personnel had earlier responded to the couple’s home where they found Amanda in a terrible condition and transported her to the hospital.

Following an investigation, police arrested 64-year-old Henry the next day. He was charged with felony aggravated assault—family violence—as indicated by jail records. This charge stems from the injuries allegedly inflicted on Amanda, who is also his wife.

Upon questioning by the police, Henry allegedly confessed to causing the buгns. He claimed that he rubbed alcohol on Amanda’s body to alleviate her pain from her condition of multiple sclerosis when he accidentally lit a cigarette too close to her, setting her body on fire. However, instead of seeking immediate assistance, Henry reportedly told police he panicked and was too scared to call for help, leading to a critical two-day delay.

Henry waited two days before informing Amanda’s daughter, who, upon seeing her mother’s condition, immediately called 911. Due to the severity of her injuries, Amanda was transported to the hospital for specialized care.
