Authorities said the man was arrested and facing several charges, including unauthorized removal of a dead body, first-degree murder, and dsecration of a human corpse stemming from the death of his 30-year-old wife, who was initially considered a missing person until authorities found her body in a ditch.

The 32-year-old man, Frank, stands accused of committing the heinous crime more than a month ago. He reportedly fired two shots towards his wife, Makayla, striking her with both of them in the head, then wrapped her body in a borrowed carpet and discarded her in a ditch nearby.

Authorities first started conducting an investigation into a missing person case as the victim was reported missing over a month ago, on September 15, which is the last time Makayla was seen alive. The victim was a kindergarten teacher’s aide who reportedly left the school premises following classes and entered a white Chevy pickup driven by a tall male balding with a dark-colored beard, according to the missing person’s release. The release provided additional information, such as a description of the woman’s clothing on the last day she was seen, stating she was wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans shorts, and a multicolor pattern backpack.

When asked whether he knew the person his wife was last seen with, Frank informed detectives she went on a date with a man he didn’t know and told them she asked for an open marriage relationship because she wanted to experiment with other men and made it clear to him that who she sees or where she goes is none of his business. Frank also told the detectives that his wife’s request made him very upset over time.

Frank’s statement during the interview with authorities immediately raised questions, and they started to suspect he had something to do with his wife’s disappearance, until five days later, when her body was found in a ditch, wrapped in a carpet, and the missing person investigation was switched to a homicide investigation. After conducting a thorough investigation and collecting sufficient evidence, authorities were able to link Frank to his wife’s death. Frank was taken into custody at the county jail and is expected to appear in court sometime this month.
